Mutah University, in Southern Jordan, embarked on a Tri-generation pilot project. Concentrated Solar Power collectors, in the form of parabolic trough collectors, were used to produce steam. The steam was then used to power an electrical generator, then a water desalination unit and finally two Adsorption chillers.
These chillers are based on our patented Adsorption chiller design and were built and installed by Millennium Energy Industries for the University.
Two MEI Adsorption Chillers (Total capacity 20KW) used the heat from the water condensation phase to provide cooling. This was possible because MEI chillers can operate using relatively low heat sources, below 70°C.
