Bashir’s hospital solar thermal project is the largest one in the healthcare industry sector, with 100 flat plate collectors spanning an area of 2200 m2. The thermal storage capacity involved the use of 4 storage tanks, 3 of them are 5 m3 and the remaining one is 4 m3. The amount of the solar energy provided by the system is 965,750 kWh which covers about 60% of the hospital’s consumption, while the rest is covered by a gas boiler that gives 598,000 kWh.
